- Christian bookstore and coffee shop
Phase I Construction Plans
Phase I will include construction of a 10,000 seat capacity conference center and adjoining convention center facilities; a 108,000 sq. ft., three-story bible college to promote Christian growth and development; and a 40,000 sq. ft., two-story Christian public library facility with adjoining prayer garden and outdoor amphitheatre area. Continuity of the buildings will be reflected through an outdoor courtyard area running the length of the buildings and will include a coffee shop and outdoor eating area.
Conference/Convention Center
The Conference Center will be available to all area churches and will serve multiple uses. It will be a worship center including baptistery, contain a separate private chapel for weddings, and will have several conference rooms for use by local churches in holding seminars, meetings and events. The main conference center will be equipped with state-of-the-art equipment and will feature nationally known speakers, as well as host concerts and provide theatrical performances.
The front entrance to the Conference Center will be emphasized with a large fountain and statuary, bold lighting, and large etched glass entry windows in the Frank Lloyd Wright style. The Wright style of interior design will continue in the foyer area with columns in imprinted concrete and an interior fountain. The main conference center will be more traditional but with the same imprinted concrete and open ceilings throughout.
Bible College
The Bible College will have a Pentecostal based curriculum and will be accredited for degree programs. Containing three stories, the college will also offer certification programs and classes on various ministry areas.
Primarily classrooms and restroom facilities, floors will be hardwood with textured walls and Wright glass windows. The back side of the college will descend into the patio area adjoining the buildings.
Christian Public Library
The library will not only serve as a source for educational and entertainment materials, but will be a place of fellowship with other Christians. The main level will contain fiction, non-fiction, magazines, and reference materials including computers and internet access. Walls will be predominantly floor to ceiling glass looking out on the peace and serenity of the prayer garden. A separate music room will contain not only a baby grand piano for evening concerts but will house all music related literature. Additionally a small theater seating approximately 50 people will feature a Saturday Christian children’s movie and a selection for older individuals in the evenings, and can be reserved to show other movies available through the library or for local church use. A video room will provide an area to play computer games. Alcoves will provide secluded reading areas and a large double-sided central fireplace with seating will provide a gathering place for avid readers and for book reviews or other fireside talks.
The second floor will house the children’s section including computers and access to educational software. The children’s area has its own movie viewing room for preschoolers and young children along with a room for age-equivalent video games. Two large craft rooms are also available along with a separate reading nook and book area for junior high students. A portion of the second floor is reserved for bible college students and provides computers with access to bible software, commentaries and other resource materials, as well as hard bound reference materials. Book selections in this area will coordinate with instructor recommendations and texts and reference materials in support of bible college curriculum.
Floors will be hardwood, ceilings will be as pictured in available photographs, as will wall treatments and lighting.
Prayer Garden
The prayer garden will be a place for outdoor reading and meditation. Replete with fountains, garden paths meandering through rich, dense greenery and with seating areas and shady alcoves for reading, it will back immediately off the library and will also provide a backdrop of peace and calm for those in the library. A small outdoor amphitheatre area will provide for evening book talks, concerts and other events.
Fellowship Court
Continuity of the buildings will be achieved through a patio and outdoor eating area that will run between the buildings. Initially, a coffee shop serving high end sandwiches, pastries and assorted drinks will service the patio area, along the lines of the local AJ’s franchise. This will be supplemented by Phase II construction of the commercial and retail space building (see below) which will include eateries on the lower level with seating in the courtyard area. Office workers and bible college students will find numerous places for lunch and will enjoy the convenience, as will people looking for a bite to eat before or after conference center events.
Phase II Construction Plans
Phase II will include construction of commercial office space for leasing to various Christian-related businesses and service organizations; retail office space for leasing to various businesses for sale of Christian products; and pad space specifically designed for a large Christian bookstore/coffee shop with accompanying outdoor eating area.
Commercial & Retail Office Space
To further compliment the Center and the needs of Christians for quality Christian products and services, a 203,000 sq. ft. combined office and retail center space will be constructed. Leasing will be limited to Christian businesses and service providers such as retailers selling Christian novelties and Christian embossed clothing and Christian based adoption services, grief counseling, and other ministries and services to the Christian community in the commercial office space area.
Bookstore & Coffee Shop
Corner pad space will be devoted to either a commercial or ground lease specifically targeted for a large Christian bookseller, with a coffee shop to compliment the coffee shop located between the Conference Center and Library facilities and will also offer book reviews, musical entertainment, and items of interest to the Christian literary community. The bookstore will compliment the library and provide Christians with the ability to purchase books of meaning and impact to them, as well as study materials, self-improvement materials, etc. The intent is to additionally provide continuity between the buildings and provide sources of entertainment and luncheon opportunities throughout the Center. |
